IT Officer - Systems and Network

Job Title : IT OFFICER

Professional Pre-requisites

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field 
  2. Experience in systems and network administration 
  3. Good knowledge of IT infrastructure and security 

Major Areas of Responsibility

  1. Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage arrays (SAN), in-house applications etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements (Physical, Virtual and Cloud Based) 
  2. Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level server and network infrastructure and support an organization’s computer systems, including operating systems, business applications, security tools, web servers, active directory email systems, and user hardware 
  3. Research and recommend innovative, and automated approaches (whenever possible) for system administration tasks to leverage resources and provide economies of scale. 
  4. Perform daily system and security monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. 
  5. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required data (code repository, database, and configurations) are successfully backed up to the appropriate media  
  6. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services, SSL Certificates or any other module as necessary 
  7. Be adept in all applicable in-house software, manage configurations and deploy as per need in various departments including Projection, Ticketing and Accounts. 
  8. Prepare various reports on IIS/NGINX uptime, database usage and disk, CPU, and memory usage regularly. 
  9. Document issues and associated resolutions and report to the IT Manager 

Preferences

Professional Prerequisites 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IT and a minimum 2 years or more of related experience in a similar role 
  2. Advanced networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, firewalls) and various hypervisor platforms including VSphere, ProxMox, Verge.io. etc. 
  3. Scripting skills including PowerShell, Bash, or Python 
  4. Good command over Microsoft Office 365 Administration and Sharepoint. 
  5. Excellent verbal /written communication skills, Documentation skills for processes and procedures.  
  6. Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA/CCNP, Red Hat or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are a plus. 

Additional Requirements 

  1. Must have a two-wheeler and a valid license 
  2. Should be available on public holidays, Saturdays, and late-night shifts (if needed) 
  3. Should be able to quickly analyze the priority of critical issues and resolve them efficiently, even under pressure, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. 
  4. Ready to travel outside Kathmandu valley
